Redhorse, Golden Švejk

UPDATE: This guy was a struggle to ID (odd scale count) however based on what I've heard from the community I'm switching my identification of this specimen from a black to most likely golden redhorse

This is a tough one. I counted 43/44 complete lateral line scales. I usually use 45 as the threshold for black versus golden. In general, this fish has a head and body shape more like the goldens I see in Indiana too, which should be similar to ones in Illinois. I would say golden based on those two things, plus just a little bit of gut feeling from seeing a bunch of both species.

I agree! The count is very strange. I've been hearing from several people that its a golden.  The Caudal Peduncle Proportions have also been strange with this one. But I agree most likely a golden! thank you for taking the time helping me out
