Caught this guy last August at Cayugo Creek in Buffalo, NY

It was ID'd as probably a Golden Shiner at the time, but I'm re-opening the case because I think Rosyface Shiner was overlooked as a possibility. It had some red under it's mouth but I'm not sure if that means anything in this case because I think this fish was too small for that to be breeding colors, and it was blood from hook, but I still think this might be Rosyface. Anyone agree Rosyface or is it a small Golden? Thanks

Your fish there is not deep bodied enough (disc shaped) to be a golden shiner/rudd, or roach.
I spent half my money on fishing, gambling, alcohol, women and billiards. The other half I wasted.

Thanks for the input. You really think Spotfin Shiner though? I didnt notice any pigment on the dorsal, but isnt the dorsal also set too far back to be a spotfin?
Emerald shiner, common in lake Erie, snout is not pointy enough to be a rosyface.
I would say Emerald as well, the Rosyface I catch tend to have more elongated snouts.

I ruled out Emerald way too quickly, didnt realize they would be this far upstream from Lake Erie. I agree this is an EMerald, definately an Emerald. Thanks dudes. I caught that last August, this is now the 2nd year in a row I'm adding a new fish without fishing lol last year I realized that I caught a Rough Scad in 2014.
I actually think I have another 1 or 2 in the vault worth a fresh look
