Greater Jumprock Photo

A smallish species of sucker found down Georgia way.  This is the largest of the sucker species commonly known as "Jumprocks" - although it's actually a type of redhorse if you go by its scientific name. This fish may be the same species as the Brassy Jumprock; the jury's still out on that.  Also, even though it's been put in the genus Moxostoma, with the redhorses, we're keeping it in the "Sucker" group for now, hoping it gets a new common name when sanity prevails someday.
