Razorback Sucker - Xyrauchen texanus

The Razorback Sucker is a large native fish of the Colorado River system in western North America. It once made huge migrations along the whole length of the mighty Colorado River and its swiftwater tributaries. Unfortunately, the damming and mismanagement of the Colorado River system has resulted in severe population declines of this once-common fish, and today it is one of the rarest fishes on the continent. We at roughfish.com hope this fish can be successfully brought back from the brink of extinction, so that die-hard roughfishers from around the globe can try for it in the muddy waters where it once thrived.
